07 reflects the current dance landscape
in North Rhine-Westphalia both culturally and politically
and provides information pertaining to its dancemakers.
The contributions reflect the eclectic and controversial
issues which currently characterize the dance landscape.
The authors use various formats to shed light on dance in
North Rhine-Westphalia. In her essay, Nicole
Strecker envisions a future for dance that takes
a bold stance alongside North Rhine-Westphalia's strong
dance tradition. In his summarizing observation, Thomas
Thorausch depicts the situation facing municipal
dance ensembles. In a discussion with cultural politics
representatives, Bettina Trouwborst
poses questions pertaining to dance funding and its implementation.
With a bit more distance from the outside, Arnd
Wesemann and Katja Schneider
make pointed commentaries on the current atmosphere surrounding
North Rhine-Westphalia's dance scene. In her artist portraits,
Melanie Suchy presents the
choreographers and companies, who work in North Rhine-Westphalia
and who characterize this federal state's dance landscape
with their specific dance pieces. The selection has been
made jointly by the NRW Dance Producers
Conference / Tanzproduzenten-Konferenz-NRW (TpK)
and serves as an example of North Rhine-Westphalia's dance
spectrum with its various artistic personalities. An extensive
information and address section completes the publication.
