The outstanding Brazilian born interpreter Maria Clara Villa-Lobos will create a solo together with Portuguese dancer and choreographer Lilia Mestre. They are both known for their concentrated works that are interspersed with fantastic and sensuous absurdities.

"The main themes of my work is mankind and identity, how one reconstructs one self in different contexts, what is innate in nature and what is controlled by culture. The constant adapting to new circumstances and therefor the ongoing process of transformation is a very stimulating subject. Maria Clara invited me for my quest on identity and I'll be interested in 'Faces' to study the performer's ability to be many. My desire is to give importance to the performer and to the 'performativity' as the place to transgress rules of which you are and to find the complexity of being many in one." Lilia Mestre

Maria Clara Villa-Lobos (B)
