d·a·m·p·f_lab:
New forms of interactive performance
d·a·m·p·f_lab
is about conveying artistic processes that investigate the
relationship between interactive technologies and the performing
arts. Artistic presentations, panel discussions, introductions
to software programs and a diversified specialized digital
library offer a broad spectrum of information to anyone who
is interested. The invited artists from the Kurort, Apparition
and Rebound's lab projects give an update on their work and
ask the audience to become a part of the action in dealing
with this hybrid artform.
Prof.
Marie-Luise Angerer from the Kunsthochschule für Medien
Köln and Scott DeLahunta, Writing Research Associates
(NL), who has mentored the projects, are the hosts of this
discussion panel.
d·a·m·p·f_lab
is a mutual research project by the Ars Electronica Center/Linz;
V2_Lab/Rotterdam; Animax Multimediatheater/Bonn and tanz performance
köln, supported by the European Commission/culture 2000
( http://dampf.v2.nl/ )
Kurort
by Angelika Oei and R.A. Verouden (NL)
Concept
and direction: Angelika Oei and R.A.Verouden
Hardware engineer : Stock
Software engineer : Erik Kemperman
Project manager : Lobke Hulzink
Manager V2_lab: Anne Nigten
Production: Gabrielle Anceaux and Pascal van Woudenberg
Kurort
is an interactive installation/performance that creates a
space with a mind of its own - the software program Lizzie,
which communicates with the audience. A prototype of this
project that has been developed at the V2_Lab in Rotterdam
can be tested by anyone in the audience.
Apparition
by Klaus Obermaier (A)

Tannion
A
cooperation of Ars Electronica, South Bank Centre London and
Singapore Arts Festival and DAMPF_lab
Together
with the Ars Electronica Futurelab Klaus Obermaier has been
working on developing an interactive scenario that focuses
on specially developed camera tracking systems and video projections
which react to the unique movement quality of an individual
performer. In Cologne the dancer Robert Tannion (DV8 Physical
Theatre) and the dancer/acrobat Desirée Kongerod will
demonstrate the interactive possibilities during a short live
performance.
Rebound's
lab by François Raffinot (F)
Realisation:
François Raffinot and Roland Auzet
Interpretation: Roland Auzet
Programming: Yan Philippe
Sound direction and programming: Sven Mann

Starting
point of this work is one of Iannis Xenakis' most virtuosic
percussion pieces Rebonds. Rebound's lab is a choreographic
palimpsest of the musical original that was developed with
the help of a performance steered synchronization of a group
of computer programs (Eyesweb, Veejay, Supercollider, Max
MSP). Percussionist Roland Auzet is sure to bedazzle you with
his performance that takes place as a part of the d·a·m·p·f_labs.
