Chantier
Musil ("Construction site Musil") is a multimedia
choreography that is inspired by Robert Musil's novel "The
Faceless Man". The French choreographer Fran?ois Verret
does not attempt an adaption of the novel's action - he is
interested in the narrative structure: how the individual
disolves, how his story is told; the change of perspectives
as a reflection of the inner and outer state of emotions;
the type of description that puts the action in a different
perspective. There are neither characters nor situations,
nor structures or emotional states. As a result we experience
a non-linear, complex work that consists of fragments bursting
with the power of suggestion and change. The skeletal appearance
of the performance space, a gigantic multi-level steel scaffold,
lets the performers give a dazzling show. This work presents
a combination of spoken word, live music, video projection
and dance that is a mixture of contemporary dance, breakdance
and acrobatics. Be prepared for a work of unusual quality.
